Originally thought the gear assembly needed to be replaced (by my description of the problem on the phone).
Jake, the technician that came out, told me there was nothing wrong with the gear assembly (grateful for the honesty).
He did a tune-up and saw that a wire to the motion sensor was loose and the door has worked perfectly since!
